The Rocky Mountain District Teachers' Conference will be held next week, Wednesday, Sept. 30- Friday, Oct. 3. Zion teachers will be attending this conference so there will be no school on those days. Daycare will be available.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with the carnival, either by working at the booths or by donating goodies for the cakewalk. Your help is appreciated!

PTL's next fundraiser (selling Yankee candles) will begin on Monday, Sept. 28.

Both kindergarten classes will be going to Miller Farm (near Platteville) on Tuesday, Oct. 13. We will meet in our classroom at 8:00 a.m. We will leave Zion about 8:45 a.m. and return about 1:00 p.m. The cost is $8.00 for children and adults. Drivers will be needed. Sack lunches will also be needed. The official permission slip will come home after next week's break.

The kindergarten t-shirts have been ordered and should be here in about 2 weeks - in time for our trip to Miller Farm.

Beginning Monday, Oct.5, kindergarteners will be able to start checking books out from our classroom. They will be able to take one book home, read it, and return it the next day. (This is not like the school library where they keep it for 2 weeks!)

Parents who would like to volunteer in the classroom schould talk to Mrs. McFall about some of the areas where help might be needed.

School pictures will be taken Monday, September 21 at 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Today is the midterm of the first quarter of this school year. Kindergarten students do not get a midterm report. Report cards will be given out at parent conferences at the end of the quarter (the end of October).

The Scholastic Book Fair will be in the library next week. It will be open before, during, and after school each day.

PTL Carnival is next Friday, September 25 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Donations of baked goods are needed for the cakewalk, which is always a big hit! This is a class competition - the class that brings in the most baked goods wins a prize! Baked goods should be labeled - "McFall KAM' or "McFall KPM". They should be brought to school Thursday or Friday (before 3:00 pm.).

The food drive is still going on until next Friday. The Brighton Food Bank is in need of non-perishable food items. Please place them on the tables by the entrances to the school and church.
There will be no school on Wednesday, September 30-Friday, October 2. The teachers will be attending the Rocky Mountain District Teachers' Conference in Breckenridge.

We are working on being respectful listeners!

T-shirt order forms went home today. It would be nice if everyone could order one of these shirts - it makes it nice on field trips! The cost is $5.00. The order form and money should be returned to me by Wed. Sept.16. Cash or checks are fine. Checks should be made out to me - Kathy McFall. If there are any questions about the shirts or order, let me know.

Library books were checked out this past Wed. They are not due back until Sept. 23, but no new books may be checked out if the first one has not been returned yet. The books should be returned to the box in the school lobby. They do not have to come back to the classroom.

Picture day for kindergarteners is Monday, Sept. 21. These are individual pictures, not a group picture.

Carnival is coming Fri. Sept. 25. There are only a couple of time slots left to fill for workers for our kindergarten booth. Everyone's help is also needed for items for the "Cakewalk". This is a class competition! More information is in the flyer that also went home today.

Sunday School at Zion begins this Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m. The kindergarten class meets in our regular classroom and Mrs. Heideman is the teacher. Everyone is welcome to join us. (The year will start with a breakfast!)

The food drive is continuing. The tables are starting to fill up - keep up the good work!

No school on Monday, Sept. 7 for the Labor Day holiday. Students will be released early on Thurs. Sept. 10 because of the athletic program schedule. Dismissal time is 2:00 p.m. Normal pick-up procedures will be followed. Daycare will be available as usual.

Kindergarten students will start checking books out from our Zion school library on Wed. Sept. 9. Students may check out one book each week. A new book may not be checked out if another book is still checked out.

Some homework has gone home this week. Any papers that go home to be done as homework should be returned the next day. Parents need to check folders every day.

The food drive for the Brighton Food Bank is going on until Sept. 25. Tables are set up at the school and church entrances for donations.

School pictures will be taken Mon. Sept. 22.

The PTL Carnival is Fri. Sept. 25. Workers for the kindergarten booth are still needed!

Kindergarten t-shirts will be ordered soon. The order is still being put together - hopefully it will be coming home next week.
